Today marks the 15th year that Dr. Dusek has been an adjudicator at the National Federation of Music Teacher's Junior Festival, held this year at Niwot High School in Niwot, Colorado. Bob judged most of the ensemble performances, including concerto categories. "The students were remarkably well prepared this year, making the decision making process more difficult than usual." In fifteen years of adjudicating this event, Bob has never awarded a superior plus rating; that is, until today. "There was one student who's playing could only be described as 'flawless.' I never expected to here something like that from a high school student, and I probably never will again."

After some negotiating, Dr. Dusek has accepted the position of Director of Worship and Arts at Horizon Community Church in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. www.horizoncommunity.org. Bob takes the reigns January 8th, the first contract period being a year.

After far too many months, Zone has finally arrived! Written for American pianist Bryan Pezzone, Zone utilizes amplified piano, B3 organ, a large orchestra and a whole lot of percussion to assault the senses with a fusion virtuosity not seen since Deep Purple's live performances of Space Truckin'. Bryan has called the work a masterpiece. Now the real work begins: finding an orchestra with a conductor that's just crazy enough to bring this baby to the world!

Composing began on a new concerto for amplified piano, Hammon B3 organ, and large orchestra this week. The work is being written for pianist Bryan Pezzone and is described as "Deep Purple meets Bela Bartok." The tentative title of this new work is "Zone" and it promises to be a high-energy and rediculously virtuosic nigtmare ride through a sonic playground!

Much of the original analog rcording has been cleaned up and remastered. The CD is titled "Contemporary American Art" and includes large ensemble pieces by several American composers. The Clarinet Concerto is the ancor piece and occupies the first position on the disc. The CD is available directly through CRS, www.crsnews.org, or through Tower Records and other retail outlets.

Centerpoint Community Church (Arvada, CO) presented the premier of Bob's most recent Easter production, An Empty Tomb, A Risen Hope, Sunday morning, April 12th. This year's production did not include any original musical composition, but rather arrangements of popular contemporary Christian music for chamber choir, 5 piece band, and various soloists. The production also included drama, multi-media presentations and narration. The production was well received and well performed, despite the fact that two members of the congregation were offended by the "not so holy" nature of the drama element!
